As with our accommodation we base our meals on quality and value for money. We use the freshest ingredients available, sourced whenever possible from neighbours' hens and gardens, prime local shops, farm shops,Taunton farmer's market and Charlton orchards.
We use the best bacon and prize-winning sausages from Bonners of Ilminster.
Using her four oven Aga, Ann makes homemade jams, marmalades and bread to make the mouth water.
Meals are served in our spacious dining room overlooking the garden.
Breakfast
After a good night's sleep, breakfast should be something to look forward to. Different people like different things for breakfast so to ensure that our guests enjoy the first meal of their day, we invite them to select their own combination of choices on our extensive breakfast menu.
Breakfast is normally served at 8.30 but it can be earlier by arrangement or at 9.00 on Sunday if preferred.
Evening Meal
After a busy day why not try our excellent evening meals of two courses plus coffee which are very popular and highly recommended. Ann cooks traditional English meals and old-fashioned homemade puddings, for example, roast leg of lamb followed by cherry and almond tart. As an alternative to pudding guests may prefer to try delicious Styles farm house ice cream made on Exmoor or award winning Tower Farms cheese from Lydeard St Lawrence
Evening meals are normally served at 7pm but the time can be altered by prior arrangement. We happily cater for special dietary requirements with advance notice. The Spinney is not licenced but guests are welcome to bring their own wine to enjoy with their meals.
Packed lunches(for walkers and cyclists) are available on request at extra cost, as are light suppers for late arrivals. .
Our evening meals are optional. For guests wishing to eat out in the evening we can recommend local pubs in the area.
